FRIENDS & THE I-LIMB MEETS THE BIONIC LEG

I just returned from getting a new glove for the i-limb, the last one was completely wore out. This past week was a very eventful one and I wanted to share some of the happenings. A great friend of mine Andrew Seagraves, who lost his right leg to an accident a little over 10 years ago, was on vacation with his family in our area. They stopped by and we had a little fun for the camera – check it out.

We had a blast telling stories of my arm and his leg. We are thinking of going on the road – LOL!

Just wanted you all to enjoy a good laugh. Keep checking back – great things are on their way.

2010 IS UNDERWAY

A brand new year is already here and we are nearly through the first month of the year. I cannot believe it is YEAR 2010! Where has the time gone? In just a few weeks I would have had the i-LIMB for close to one year and it has truly been an amazing year.

When I first received the i-LIMB I went on a 100 days with the i-LIMB journey and what a journey it was. I have not posted much since then, only occasionally because I didnt want to bore people with my life. After a year into this adventure with the i-LIMB, I have recently had numerous people wonder why I wasn’t posting anything to this blog and how I was doing with the i-LIMB. It made me think that maybe I need to be putting more stuff up here and continue the adventure with the i-LIMB.

This past week I was at a conference in Louisiana and I didn’t bring the i-LIMB because of some of the crazy situations I have had going through airports with my new appendage (I will tell you more about that in a different post). Many people, more than I could count, came to me and asked, “Where is the i-LIMB?” I had to tell them that I didn’t bring it and here is why.. yada yada yada. But it did get me thinking that there is a lot of people out there still interested in what is going on with this technology and how it was being adapted into my life.

One of my favorite magazines on the planet is FAST COMPANY and in their latest issue – ISSUE 142 February 2010 – they have a great article on prosthesis and where they are currently and where they are going. Great read for all those that are interested.

So to answer every ones question – I am still here and I am still enjoying the i-LIMB and what it has brought into my life and I will do my best to keep the journey alive. For more in 2010

Well I have done it this time!

Recently my family and I slipped away for a few days to go see may parents, brothers and their families up in Sacramento. I was looking forward to catching up with them and spending some time just chilling. On Wednesday night my mom took all the girls, 10 of them to Disney on Ice, while us guys decided to do something a little more manly.

We decided to go to a place called Sky High – it is an indoor trampoline place that is pretty cool. I should of known I was in trouble when I had to sign a form waiving my right to sue if I got injured. I felt like a kid in a candy store. There were trampolines connected everywhere. It was fun, for awhile!

They had a section where you could play dodgeball and I was on FIRE!! We played that for nearly an hour then decided to go back to the area where there were trampolines on the wall and all over the floor. I thought I would give it one more try and took off jumping from one trampoline to the next chasing after my 13 year old nephew. Needless to say I landed on the third trampoline and my ankle decided to go a different direction than I planned on going. I messed it up pretty bad. In fact the doctor said it would of been better if I broke it instead of spraining it the way I did.

With all of that in mind I have discovered something that is pretty cool. For the first time in my life I am actually able to use crutches the way they are designed to be used. And it is all thanks to the i-LIMB. I picked up my crutches the other day and just started laughing because of how easy it is to use with the i-LIMB on.

Finding new and useful ways to use my prosthesis makes each day an adventure. I haven’t posted anything in a while on this blog but thought this would be something others would like to hear about. Here is a picture of me, the bum foot, crutches and the i-LIMB. Pretty cool the way this thing has helped in my life.

I continue to enjoy the opportunities this new appendage has brought into my life and I look forward to more ahead on the “journey.”

By the way, make sure you head over to Thank You Mr. Jenkins to order your copy of my new children’s book. Your family is going to love it.

Day 97 & 98

We are leading up to the final few days of this Adventure and it has been crazy busy.  We had family come in, we had a memorial day BBQ out here at our home and we have been in preparation to go to Maui.  We leave on the 28th and I cannot wait.  My brother and his family have been in for a few days and we have had a good time.  Here are some videos of the time together during Day 97 and 98.

As you can tell it is always a little crazy when we all get together as family.  Here are some more videos of us enjoying Memorial Day weekend.

Now I know there will be some on the web that will post comments on their blog about this next video of me opening up a bag of popcorn.  There seems to be an individual out there (I wont mention who he is) that really seems to have a difficult time with the i-LIMB and its use in my life.  He has taken several different pot-shots at me from his web site and each one has been kind of funny if you ask me.  He has a hook and thinks that the technology of the i-LIMB is a waste of money and pretty much useless.  I have been silent up till now because it has been amusing reading for me.  But I thought that since I am almost at my 100 day mark, I would comment on his banter that he has made on his site throughout my journey.  If you see this sir, I have never met you in person and I probably never will, but have a great life with your hook 🙂  If you ever get out this way let me know maybe we can arm wrestle…. LOL!!!!

As you can tell I am still working on getting this down but with time and practice I will get there.

The Adventure continues……..

DAY #96

Just a few more days till we reach the 100 days with the i-LIMB mark.  On day 100 we will be doing a very special post – you do not want to miss it.  I started out DAY 96 running some errands with the i-LIMB.  Driving with the i-LIMB has been something that I have thoroughly enjoyed, it is just cool!

Last night my wife took some time for herself and went  scrapbooking with some friends.  It was one of these all-nighter type of deals – Four till Midnight!  I still do not understand how that can be fun but…..  LOL!  Anyways while I was home with my kiddos I thought I would do some filming.  Now once you watch this please do not judge me!!  LOL.  I know it is somewhat mean but it is so funny.  I will let the video speak for itself.

She has forgiven her father but she was a little frightened.  Averie – I love you and daddy is sorry but I have to post it.  I know I am going to get some comments on this so please be kind.  This really had nothing to do with the i-LIMB but I just had to put it up.

I had to put this up – this is what our house looked like this morning when I woke up.  The youth of our church decided to go out last night and have some fun.  My son Carson was a part of it so he gets to clean it all up this morning LOL.  Great job Solid Youth – you guys are getting better at it – didn’t even hear you this time!!  Just remember – I DON’T GET MAD I GET EVEN!!  LOL

An Adventures of the i-LIMB special!!

In the month of March, just a few weeks after I received the i-LIMB, Danielle Jones-Wesley drove down to our house and filmed an interview with me about my experience with the i-LIMB.  Danielle is a college student from Rancho Cucamonga studying journalism and broadcasting.  She submitted this as a class project and it was played on the college television news station.  This was a cool experience and today she sent this to me and I thought that I would post it on my blog for all to see.  Thanks Danielle!  Great Job!!
