2010 IS UNDERWAY

A brand new year is already here and we are nearly through the first month of the year. I cannot believe it is YEAR 2010! Where has the time gone? In just a few weeks I would have had the i-LIMB for close to one year and it has truly been an amazing year.

When I first received the i-LIMB I went on a 100 days with the i-LIMB journey and what a journey it was. I have not posted much since then, only occasionally because I didnt want to bore people with my life. After a year into this adventure with the i-LIMB, I have recently had numerous people wonder why I wasn’t posting anything to this blog and how I was doing with the i-LIMB. It made me think that maybe I need to be putting more stuff up here and continue the adventure with the i-LIMB.

This past week I was at a conference in Louisiana and I didn’t bring the i-LIMB because of some of the crazy situations I have had going through airports with my new appendage (I will tell you more about that in a different post). Many people, more than I could count, came to me and asked, “Where is the i-LIMB?” I had to tell them that I didn’t bring it and here is why.. yada yada yada. But it did get me thinking that there is a lot of people out there still interested in what is going on with this technology and how it was being adapted into my life.

One of my favorite magazines on the planet is FAST COMPANY and in their latest issue – ISSUE 142 February 2010 – they have a great article on prosthesis and where they are currently and where they are going. Great read for all those that are interested.

So to answer every ones question – I am still here and I am still enjoying the i-LIMB and what it has brought into my life and I will do my best to keep the journey alive. For more in 2010

Well I have done it this time!

Recently my family and I slipped away for a few days to go see may parents, brothers and their families up in Sacramento. I was looking forward to catching up with them and spending some time just chilling. On Wednesday night my mom took all the girls, 10 of them to Disney on Ice, while us guys decided to do something a little more manly.

We decided to go to a place called Sky High – it is an indoor trampoline place that is pretty cool. I should of known I was in trouble when I had to sign a form waiving my right to sue if I got injured. I felt like a kid in a candy store. There were trampolines connected everywhere. It was fun, for awhile!

They had a section where you could play dodgeball and I was on FIRE!! We played that for nearly an hour then decided to go back to the area where there were trampolines on the wall and all over the floor. I thought I would give it one more try and took off jumping from one trampoline to the next chasing after my 13 year old nephew. Needless to say I landed on the third trampoline and my ankle decided to go a different direction than I planned on going. I messed it up pretty bad. In fact the doctor said it would of been better if I broke it instead of spraining it the way I did.

With all of that in mind I have discovered something that is pretty cool. For the first time in my life I am actually able to use crutches the way they are designed to be used. And it is all thanks to the i-LIMB. I picked up my crutches the other day and just started laughing because of how easy it is to use with the i-LIMB on.

Finding new and useful ways to use my prosthesis makes each day an adventure. I haven’t posted anything in a while on this blog but thought this would be something others would like to hear about. Here is a picture of me, the bum foot, crutches and the i-LIMB. Pretty cool the way this thing has helped in my life.

I continue to enjoy the opportunities this new appendage has brought into my life and I look forward to more ahead on the “journey.”

My Friend Haylee!!

One thing that being on this adventure has taught me – you never know who you come in contact with that will have an impact on your life.  One of those people is my friend, Haylee, a 7 year old from Nebraska.  During these adventures I posted one of her videos she did of a shout out to me.  We have become fast friends and Haylee is doing some amazing things over at Little Hand Big Heart. I wanted to post a couple of videos that are on Haylee’s site so you can meet her and see the journey that she is on.  This little girl has an amazing future and I am happy to have come in contact with her and her family.

Here is Haylee playing the Wii.  I guess now I am going to have to make a video with the i-LIMB playing the Wii!!
